On the 4th February 2019, Carmelo better known as Charles Saliba presented his Credentials as the Ambassador of Malta to Libya to His Excellency Fayez Al Serraj, President of the Government of National Accord in Libya.

Prior his appointment, Ambassador Saliba served for twelve years as the General Manager of Bank of Valletta Representative Office in Libya. He also served as Financial Advisor within the Bank of Valletta International Private Banking and a number of years in the Financial Markets.

During his time in Libya, Ambassador Saliba worked closely with the Maltese Embassy in Tripoli and was an active member of the Maltese Libyan Culture Group. He also served as a member with the Libyan Maltese Chamber of Commerce

Ambassador Saliba holds a diploma in banking and BSc (Hon) from UMIST in Financial Services. He speaks Maltese, English, Arabic and Italian. He also holds a degree in Photography from the London University of Photography. Besides photography, Ambassador Saliba is a musician. He plays guitar, ukulele, piano and percussions.
