Ambassador Mark A. Pace presented credentials as the Ambassador of the Republic Malta to King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands, on 15th July 2020. On 17th July 2020, he presented his letter of accreditation as Malta’s Representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to Director General Fernando Arias.

Ambassador Pace joined the Maltese diplomatic service in 1995 following the completion of law degree at the University of Malta (1995). He furthered his studies at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands from where he received a Master of Arts in the Social Sciences (1998).

Prior to his posting in The Hague, he served as the Ambassador of Malta in Tunisia (2016-2020) and as the Head of the Representative Office of Malta in Ramallah (2012-2015). During his diplomatic career he has also been posted to Moscow (2000-2003), Washington D.C. (2003-2006), the Permanent Representation of Malta to the Council of Europe (2008-2011) and Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union (2011-2012).

During different tours of duty at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ambassador Pace held the posts of Head of Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean (2015-2016), Deputy Director of Protocol (2006-2008) and other positions with the multilateral and bilateral divisions.

Ambassador Pace speaks Maltese, English, Italian and French and has a good working knowledge of Dutch, Russian and Spanish. He was born on 28 January 1971.
