John Camilleri is Malta’s new Ambassador to The Republic of Portugal.

Ambassador Camilleri presented his credentials as the Ambassador of Malta to Portugal to His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa President of the Portuguese Republic on Monday 20th July 2020.

Prior to this appointment Mr. Camilleri has served as Chief of Staff to the former President of Malta, and recently at the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs.

At the age of twenty-seven he was appointed t​o represent his fellow workers on the Board of Directors, a position he kept for sixteen years. With a background of forty years of experience in Administration, he brings with him extensive experience in Management. A career, with considerable time working in Executive positions in both public and private sectors, leading or participating in task forces, involved in reform processes, organising and restructuring.

He obtained bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Tripoli, where he was in charge of two private companies during his spell of nine years in the country. Mr. Camilleri did his secondary schooling at The Archbishop minor Seminary in Malta, before attending to tertiary education.

Mr. Camilleri can speak fluent Maltese, English, Italian and Arabic.

He holds a passion for arts and enjoyed doing gilding when time permitted.

He is married to Bernardette and has three children. Tyrone, Kevin and Sallyann.
