The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Geneva hosted a piano recital in the evening of Wednesday 19 September 2018 at the Palais des Nations, in honour of Malta’s 54th anniversary of its Independence. The recital featured Dr Joanne Camilleri, a renowned Maltese musician and graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, who despite her young age, has already performed on various stages in different countries around Europe.

H.E. Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office in Geneva and H.E. Olaph Terribile, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Geneva, delivered the opening speeches, followed by Dr Camilleri who gave a brief introduction about Maltese music and the pieces she was playing during the evening.

The event was well attended with an audience of about 200 persons, which included the diplomatic community in Geneva, Maltese nationals living in Switzerland, UN officials and the general public. The concert was followed by a reception during which a number of Maltese flavours were offered.
