The Permanent Representation of Malta
to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg has joined other missions abroad in
becoming a member to the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC)
- a European network of organisations engaged in the promotion of cultural
relations at the international level. It
is present in more than 100 countries worldwide with a network of 133 clusters.
The EUNIC Cluster in Strasbourg works
to make culture a more prominent lever of cooperation between European
institutions and partners based in Strasbourg. It has the additional role of promoting the European
Union’s and Council of Europe’s core values of human rights, democracy and rule
of law, through joint cultural projects.
H.E. Ambassador Lorenzo Vella,
Permanent Representative of Malta to the Council of Europe, signed the EUNIC Charter
to become a member of the EUNIC Cluster in Strasbourg, on behalf of Arts
Council Malta, on 29 June 2022. Thus, becoming the ninth member to join the
EUNIC Cluster in Strasbourg, since its inception one year ago.
Other EUNIC
Strasbourg members include: - Austria, France, Hungary, Luxembourg, Portugal, Alliance Française
Strasbourg Europe, the Goethe Institut Nancy / Strasbourg, and the Italian
Cultural Institute of Strasbourg. The EU Delegation to the Council of Europe is a
strategic partner.
