As part of the 10th edition of the World Forum for Democracy: ‘Democracy:
A New Hope?’, H.E. Ambassador Lorenzo Vella, Permanent Representative of
Malta to the Council of Europe, had the honour and pleasure of moderating ‘Lab
6 - Social Inclusion’ on Tuesday, 8 November 2022.
This session sought
to address important issues, such as how all relevant actors, from local
governments to the international level, can ensure that all groups and
individuals genuinely benefit from equal opportunities. Whether the existing
tools and mechanisms are enough to eliminate social exclusion. As well as discussed,
the ways and means of creating a system that is flexible enough to adapt to future
challenges.
In his capacity as Chair of the Executive Committee of the
North-South Centre, Ambassador Vella highlighted the important role played by
this agency in promoting dialogue, partnership & global solidarity. Furthermore,
he underscored the fundamental role that Civil Society Organisations play in
helping overcome the barriers for social inclusion, integration and political
participation.
