On 24th October 2017, Dutch students from the Faculty of Law
of Tilburg University held a meeting with Ambassador Joseph Cole and First
Secretary Mr Gabriel Camenzuli at the Embassy of the Republic of Malta in The
Hague. This visit was held as part of
the annual ‘Day to The Hague’ for all first-year law students, during which
students are given the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the political,
international and diplomatic aspects of The Hague.
During the meeting Ambassador Cole briefed the students about Malta and
its foreign policy, and the role of an Ambassador together with his own
experiences in diplomacy, both at Head Office and in Missions abroad. Ambassador
Cole outlined the work done by the Embassy to enhance the bilateral relations
with accredited countries and informed about the efforts of Malta’s Diplomatic
network at the UN and Commonwealth. The students were also informed about the
international organisations based in the Hague, the multilateral and consular
aspects of the work at the Embassy, and opportunities for post-graduate studies
available in Malta.
