On
the 13 October Maltese pianist Gabi Sultana performed in a piano duo concert as
part of the Pianoduo Festival that was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on
6-15 October. The festival promoted the development and professionalism of the
piano duo genre with a focus on young talent development, the performance of
unknown and contemporary repertoire.
Gabi
Sultana is one of the leading Maltese pianist in the field of contemporary and
modern compositions. She has studied music in Belgium and the Netherlands and
has already performed in Malta and abroad on a number of occasions. Together
with Mirek Coutigny from Belgium, the duo performed contemporary piano
compositions with avant-garde music from the 20th and 21st
century.
As
part of the promotion of Maltese talent in the Netherlands, the Embassy was a
contributing partner in the organisation of the concert. Malta was also represented in the audience
with the presence of Ambassador Joseph Cole, Mrs Cole, Mr Gabriel Camenzuli,
First Secretary at the Embassy of Malta in The Hague and the Hon. Consul in Amsterdam, Mr
Adriaan Grandia and Mrs. Grandia.
