The Embassy of the Republic of Malta in Tel Aviv organised, on 22nd September 2022, a reception for the Maltese Community in the Holy Land at the Pontifical Institute Notre Dame of Jerusalem Centre. Those present at the gathering were welcomed by H.E. Cecilia Attard-Pirotta, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the State of Israel.

Prior to the gathering, Mass was celebrated by Prof. Josef Mario Briffa, S.J., after which the Maltese Community sang the Maltese National Anthem. Before addressing those gathered for the event, Ambassador Attard-Pirotta read out the Independence Day message by the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, Dr Ian Borg. During her address, Ambassador Cecilia Attard-Pirotta spoke on Malta’s recent election to serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2023-2024. Ambassador Attard-Pirotta explained how during this tenure, Malta was committed to support the UN as a neutral Member State, actively pursuing peace, security, and social progress among all nations, in the Holy Land, and across the world.

Ambassador Attard-Pirotta thanked the members of the Maltese community for being active Maltese emissaries and recognized the valuable work conducted amongst local communities by Maltese clergy members in the holy land.
