Mr. Raymond Sarsero is currently the Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the State of Kuwait.
He served as Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Russian Federation from March 2012 to September 2013, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from May 2017 to November 2020.
In 1976 he joined the Malta Civil Service and served at the Office of the Prime Minister. In March 1978, Mr. Sarsero joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a desk officer for countries in various regions. He headed the Disarmament Section of the Multilateral Affairs Department from 1999 to 2003. From 2007 to 2011 he served as a Head of Unit in the European and Economic Affairs Directorate dealing with International Economic Organisations, Trade and Investment Promotion, and International Trade regulations. In the period between August 2011 and February 2012 he was Head of Unit, at the European Affairs Directorate, responsible for bilateral relations between Malta and a number of European countries. He served as a Head of Unit of the Mashreq region in the External Relations and Mediterranean Affairs Directorate from 2003 to 2017.
Throughout his career Mr Sarsero was posted at the Embassy of Malta in Washington, Tripoli, and at the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations in Geneva.
Mr. Sarsero served as member of the National Authority of Malta for the Implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention and as a member of the Sanctions Monitoring Board. In 2011 he was appointed a member of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development, and served on this Council as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs up to the end of 2011.
Ambassador Sarsero was born on 26 March 1958. He is married to Amanda née Deguara and has a daughter, Nicole.
