Europe Day Photo Exhibition in Riyadh

Malta together with other EU Member States participated at a Europe Day Photo Exhibition which was inaugurated on 8th May 2016, in Riyadh, at the King Abdul-Aziz Historical Centre (the National Museum) of Saudi Arabia by the EU Head of Delegation, Ambassador Adam Kulach, in the presence of high officials from the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Saudi officials and other guests. Some sixty photos of the European museums’ most famous collection of arts and other collections of Islamic arts or linked to the Arab/Gulf world were displayed at the Saudi National Museum. The EU Delegation in Riyadh is organizing a series of cultural events to commemorate Europe Day.

Malta’s photos consisted of items and artefacts relating to the Arab period in Malta, namely Arab gold coins, the globigerina tombstones, a silver ring, Majmuna’s tombstone, polychrome ceramics, a globigerina roundel carving and an Arab lamp. 

Heritage Malta, in co-ordination with the Embassy of Malta in Riyadh, provided the photographs and a description with technical details on each of the photos, which were displayed at this Exhibition and which will remain open for a whole month.
