The 58th
Anniversary since Malta attained Independence was celebrated by the Embassy of
Malta in the UAE in the auspicious presence of the Honourable Dr Ian Borg,
Malta's Ministers for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, and H.E. Abdullah
Bin Sultan Al-Nuaimi, Ministry of Justice of the UAE.
The event
was graced by cultural duo, Maltese Soprano Nicola Said and Ukrainian Pianist
Olena Ponomarova, who gave an impeccable rendering of the two national anthems
as well as arias from various contemporary musicals.
Malta's
Ambassador Maria Camilleri Calleja and her husband Mr Adolfo Camilleri,
together with Mr Aldo-Joseph Giordano, Consul and Senior Counsellor, welcomed
members of the diplomatic corps in Abu Dhabi, representatives from the
government, institutional, academic, religious, commercial, industrial and
cultural communities around the UAE, members of the Maltese community in the
country, and Friends of Malta, at the Dusit Thani Hotel Abu Dhabi, the venue
which hosted the event. Besides enjoying a sumptuous culinary experience,
guests had an opportunity to network and get to know each, since the event was
also styled as a promotional platform and an opportunity for Maltese and UAE
entities and businesses to mingle.
