3.       Date and Place of Marriage (if applicable)

4.       It is required to specify the Citizenships you currently hold

  • Maltese Passports can be applied for at the Malta High Commission. All Maltese Passports are issued in Malta and therefore passports cannot be issued within 24 hours. The minimum processing time is two weeks. This timeframe varies depending on your individual case. It is strongly advisable to always ensure that your Maltese Passport is valid, and you book your appointment well in advance. You may consider having six months of remaining validity on your passport at all times especially if your Maltese Passport is your only form of identification and you are reliant on this passport for your residency outside of Malta.

  • Additional documentation may be requested by the Passport officers if deemed necessary for your application.

Fees applicable

  • Applicants must pay the applicable fees during their appointment.  At the Malta High Commission payments are accepted in cash, cheque or by card.

  • Between April to August, a peak season fee applies for adult passports (16+ years). A low season fee applies when applying for an adult passport during the remaining months.

  • An additional fee will be charged if you wish to avail yourself of the postal delivery service for your new Maltese Passport.

  • An additional fee will be charged if you have a lost or stolen passport and need to take an Oath confirming this.

  • The full and current fee list is available here.

  • The fees may vary slightly according to the rate of exchange.
