On Thursday 18 October 2018, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
was graciously pleased to receive Mr. Joseph Cole in Audience at Buckingham
Palace for the presentation of his Letters of Credence, accrediting him as High
Commissioner of the Republic of Malta to the Court of St James’s.
High Commissioner Joseph Cole was accompanied by Ms. Chantal
Sciberras, Deputy High Commissioner; Ms. Christine Said, Consul and Dr.
Michaela Muscat, Maritime Attache’. Her Majesty received the High Commissioner
in Private Audience and amongst other things remarked on the excellent
relations between Malta and the United Kingdom and reminisced on recollections
of her lengthy stays on the island.
As a memento of this special occasion, the High Commissioner
presented Her Majesty with a Maltese hand crafted silver model ‘Dghajsa
tal-Latini' (Gozo boat).
The ceremony at Buckingham Palace was followed by a Vin
d’Honneur at the Malta High Commission, attended by the Marshal and Dean of the
Diplomatic corps, diplomats, top officials from the Foreign Office and
representatives of the Maltese communities in the UK. During an address, the
High Commissioner augured his term in London would contribute towards the
further strengthening of Anglo Maltese relations.
